IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations ADDENDUM
Users of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations are asked to note the following amendments and corrections to the 44th Edition, effective from 1 January 2003. Wherever possible, change or amendments to existing text have been highlighted (in yellow - PDF or grey - hardcopy) to help identify the change or amendment.
New or Amended State Variations (Section 2.9.2)
Amend USG (United States) USG-13 (b) A copy of the Shipper’s Declaration must be retained by the operator for not less than "375 New or Amended Operator Variations (Section 2.9.4)
New BR (Eva Airways) BR-01 Dangerous goods requiring a Cargo Aircraft Only (CAO) label will not be accepted. BR-02 Dangerous goods in Packing Group 1 will not be accepted. BR-03 Except for explosives in Division 1.4S, Class 1, Explosives will not be accepted for carriage. BR-04 Dangerous goods in excepted quantities will not be accepted. BR-05 Dangerous goods as defined in these Regulations will not be accepted in Airmail. BR-06 Dangerous goods in consolidations will not be accepted for carriage, except:
consolidations having one master air waybill with one house air waybill.
BR-07 Dangerous goods shipments from other operators will not be accepted. BR-08 Oxygen Generator, Chemical will not be accepted for carriage. BR-09 Division 2.1, Flammable Gas. The following flammable gases will not be accepted:
UN Number – Description UN 1057 – Disposable lighter with high tensile nylon or plastic body.
BR-10 Division 2.3 Toxic Gases, will not be accepted for carriage. BR-11 Class 7, Radioactive Material, Category II-Yellow, III-Yellow, Fissile material and excepted BR-12 Class 8, Corrosives. The following Corrosive Materials will not be accepted:
UN Number – Description UN 1787 – Hydriodic acid UN 2803 – Gallium.
BR-13 Class 9, Miscellaneous dangerous goods. The following goods will not be accepted:
UN Number – Description UN 2211 – Polymeric beads, expandable.
BR-14 Division 6.2, Infectious substances, must be loaded on a cargo aircraft.

For all substances with a primary risk of Division 6.1, the following must be "inserted in the "Additional Handling Information" box on the Shipper's Declaration for Dangerous Goods: UN number, Packing Group and the word "oral", "dermal" or "inhalation" whichever hazard is applicable." Amend State Variation VCH-01 to read "VCG-01".
Section 2 Ammunition (cartridges for weapons) second line should read: "Division 1.4S), in quantities "not exceeding" 5 kg (11 lb) gross weight per person for that person’s". Consumer electronic devices containing lithium or lithium ion cells or batteries. Delete text shown in brackets on 3rd and 4th line, i.e. (See Packing Instruction 912 and Special Provision A45).
Reference should be “2.3.5.7” instead of “2.3.5.6”.

Ammonium nitrate fertilizers UN2071. Add ‘G’ to the Ltd. Qty. weight to read "30 kg G".
Change Benzene sulphonyl hydrazide to “Benzenesulphonyl hydrazide”.
Delete the entry "1-Chloropropane, see Propyl chloride (UN 1278)" and add by column "1278 / 1-Chloropropane / 3 / / Flamm. liquid / II / - / - / Forb / 308 / 60 L / A1 / 3H".
Diagnostic specimens UN 3373. Revise columns I/J & K/L to read “see 650”.
Diisobutyl peroxide, should read “Diisobutyryl" peroxide”.

Add the new dangerous goods forbidden in aircraft under any circumstances "2,5-Dimethyl-2,5-di(ter-butylperoxy)hexyne-3 more than 86%".
UN 2037, Gas cartridges, entries for Division 2.1, 2.2, and 2.2 with Subrisk 5.1. Revise column I to read "203".
Add change symbol "∆" to Lithium hydroxide UN2680.
Add IATA restrictive hand "&" to Mercury contained in manufactured articles UN 2809.
Add Special Provision "A3" to Organotin compound, liquid, n.o.s. UN2788.
Delete the entry of "Propyl chloride UN1278" and add "Propyl chloride, see 1- Chloropropane (UN1278)".
UN 2037, Receptacles, small, containing gas, entries for Division 2.1, 2.2, and 2.2 with Subrisk 5.1. Delete "Y203" from column G and "1 kg" from column H.
Delete the not restricted entry of "Sodium carbonate peroxyhydrate".
Trinitrophenol, wetted UN3364. Revise columns J & L to read "0.5 kg".
Urea nitrate, wetted UN1357. Add Special Provision "A40". Urea nitrate, wetted UN3370. Delete Special Provision "A101" and add "A40".
Special Provision A78, revise 3rd paragraph in part (b) as shown:
Radioactive material with a subsidiary risk of Division 4.2 (Packing Group I) must be transported in Type B packages. Radioactive material with a subsidiary risk of Division 2.1 is forbidden from transport on passenger aircraft and radioactive material with a subsidiary risk of Division 2.3 is forbidden from transport on passenger or cargo aircraft except with the prior approval of the appropriate authority of the State of origin under the conditions established by that authority. A copy of the document of approval, showing the quantity limitations and the packaging requirements, must accompany the consignment. Section 5 (PI = Packing Instruction)
Change reference 7.1.8 on 3rd line to read “7.1.5.8”.
In the Outer Packagings table, delete last row starting with “ALL”. Also delete "F = Forbidden"
Reference in Note at the bottom should read “5.0.1.8”, not 5.0.1.9
Amend reference in paragraph f) to read "6.5" and not 6.4
Amend first sentence to read: “For Limited Quantities of liquids of Division 6.1 in Packing Group II "and III.”
In the 5th sentence for solids, amend the drop test reference to read "6.6.1" and not 6.5.1
Amend second sentence to read “…batteries when packed with "contained in" equipment.”
In the Outer Packagings table, delete last row starting with “SPEC”

Revise quantity & type of packing description of the last example, Batteries, wet, filled with acid to read "1 fibreboard box x 50 kg G".
Section 10 Pg. 623 – 10.3.10, revise last paragraph as shown:
