Urine All drugs detectable in plasma are also detectable in urine. Because the minor tranquilizers are extensively
metabolized and new generation benzodiazepines (eg, alprazolam, flunitrazepam, and triazolam) are administered
at such low doses, they are difficult to detect in urine at therapeutic concentrations. There is considerable
interest in the drug Rohypnol , known as the date-rape drug. The active agent is flunitrazepam, and its major
metabolite, 7-aminoflunitrazepam, can be detected in urine for approxiamtely 4 days after exposure. Test
#80370 "Benzodiazepine Confirmation, Urine" should be ordered if the physician suspects such benzodiazepines.
The following are detected in urine but not in plasma:
Analgesics: Cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril ) Demerol (Meperidine) Dilaudid (Hydromorphone) Dolophine (Methadone) Flexeril (Cyclopenzaprine) Hycodan (Hydrocodone) Hydrocodone (Hycodan , Vicodin ) Hydromorphone (Dilaudid , LorTab ) LorTab (Hydromorphone) Meperidine (Demerol ) Methadone (Dolophine ) 6-Monoacetyl Morphine (on request) Morphine Numorphan (Oxymorphone)Oxycodone (OxyContin , Percodan ) OxyContin (Oxycodone) Oxymorphone (Numorphan ) Pentazocine (Talwin ) Percodan (Oxycodone) Talwin (Pentazocine) Vicodin (Hydrocodone)
