Here is some important information for team members. It is not intended to alarm or dissuade you from joining us but it is important that you understand the nature and risks of the trip. It is for this reason we ask you to sign this letter, not as a contract but just so that you know what you are letting yourself in for!
We will facilitate this trip. That is we will make the travel arrangements (unless you wish to do so
yourself), set up the itinerary, brief and debrief. We will also provide a kit-list. The trip will take place in either July or August. Dates to be confirmed.
There is a possibility that we will split up into two groups, depending on the size of the overall
team. You may be in a group without experience of the area and a leader will be appointed within the group. Travelling can be long, uncomfortable and frustrating. Patience and a good sense of humour are required.
The cost of the trip varies depending on the itinerary, destination and your airport of departure.
We endeavour to get the best possible deals on the flights. For this reason the dates that we travel on need to be flexible by a few days.
Approximate costs: Nepal: £1,150. Thailand: £1,250. Thailand/Laos/Vietnam: £1,450. The
budget includes flights, transport, visas, accommodation, insurance, devotional book, food & drinks, taxes etc. A deposit of £50 is needed before we can book your flight and accommodation. Once you have returned the forms, paid the deposit and we have booked the flights we can inform you of the total amount payable to AsiaLink. An additional £50 is included in the budget to help cover AsiaLink's costs in setting up and running this trip. AsiaLink makes no profit from the event. Please make cheques payable to ‘Asialink’ or the money can be sent as a bank draft (please contact us for details or see the link below). Full payment is required by June 1st. Please contact us if you have difficulties making the payment.
You may wish to take additional money for souvenirs, sightseeing, activities, etc.
You are free to obtain your own travel insurance or we can arrange that for you.
You will need to make an appointment with your local Doctor, Nurse or Health advisor to obtain the necessary vaccinations and/or malaria prevention.
Obtaining and paying for the appropriate vaccinations and other requirements such as walking
shoes, large rucksack, etc are the team member’s responsibility.
During the trip the team leader will lead short devotionals based on a specified book relating to
missions or evangelism. This book will be posted to you to be read before the trip begins. Return completed forms by e 30th March. Alternatively you can send them by post: Tris Miles, AsiaLink, 35 Granada Road, Denton, Manchester M34 2LL. (Tel: +44 (0)161 336 3755). Please wait to be informed of your successful application before paying a deposit.
All cheques should be sent to: Pamela Dudgeon, AsiaLink, The Old Barn, Mill Farm, Fleetwood Road, W
